Migration is a workflow project too

Define a transition boundary and a reconciliation process.

The everyday problem

Moving data into a new platform is only one part of migration. Teams also need to know where new work starts, what happens to open work, and which system is authoritative during the transition. Ambiguity at cutover can create duplicate or abandoned tasks.

A practical approach

Define a transition boundary and a reconciliation process. Test representative records and open cases before expanding the migration. Include training, support, and rollback considerations in the plan rather than treating them as tasks after the data transfer.

Try this with your team

Write a cutover scenario for a case opened before the transition but completed afterward. Identify its owner and system of record at each step.
