The everyday problem

An integration may work at launch and become fragile when the people who built it move on. Without ownership records, routine changes become investigations. Operations teams need to know who maintains each connection and who decides whether a change is acceptable.

A practical approach

Keep a register of connections, owners, dependencies, monitoring, and escalation contacts. Record the purpose and expected behavior in plain language. Review the register when access, source systems, or workflow scope changes rather than waiting for an incident.

Try this with your team

Create a one-page entry for an important connection. Include the business purpose, technical owner, failure signal, and recovery contact.
